Once upon a time I decided to start a blog because I wanted to live in a world where there is room for wonder and fairy tales and beauty.

I’m kind of obsessed with beauty.

Sometimes, there just isn’t enough magic. Sometimes, you have to create your own, or at least, pick it up off the floor, give it a good shake, and let it shine.

I believe the kindness of God can inspire us to turn around and go the other way. I believe passion and the power of community can save the world. I believe family is a kind of superpower. I believe integrity is the hottest accessory–that, and a long, flowing skirt. I am a homeschooling, fairy princess kind of mom. I love Jesus, but I struggle with “Christian”. Sometimes I don’t know how I got here, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I got my liberal arts degree in English at UT Austin. I married Prince Charming nearly 10 years ago and we had two babies the old fashioned way. In 2009, we decided to expand our family once again. We met her in Uganda in June 2010. 11 months later, we stepped onto US soil with our beautiful, bright-eyed daughter, Gloria.

I read like books are disappearing. My record? 80, in three weeks. I stumbled into my love of words in the second grade; we had to write a story and illustrate it. I hated the drawing part but I fell in love with the writing process.

As I got older, I learned more and more about the holiness and healing of the written word. But it wasn’t until about a year ago that a friend finally got me to admit (exclaim?) that I am a Writer. It’s not only what I do, it’s who I am. It’s how I see the world.

I am grateful you’re reading this, and that you now know me a little better. I want to know you, too. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment and I’ll get back to you.

I am also open for tweeting. Either way, I hope you’ll come back to find solace and hope and little bit of magic again and again.
